Default World Products Warhawk Cylinder Heads

I have seen these for $1300 assembled. Good deal?
They are 235cc intake port, cathedral port style for LS-1 and able to handle 0.600 inch lift.

Send your castings here....

A 235cc runner while not huge is probably better sized
for a larger bore 6.0 or 6.2 liter

$1200 assembled sounds like a pretty good deal seeing how new...it would be around $1700

its pointless to run a head that flows good to well over .700 with such a small spring...but that is one of the options when you order it assembled
granted, I dont know at what lift the head stalls out at, but they rate them to .800 lift....and people are running that head with cams that lift over .700

the .600 lift springs the warhawk comes with are
1.437": 125 lbs. @ 1.810", 340 lbs. @ 1.210", coil bind @ 1.160", max lift @ .600"

125/340lbs is not a lot of pressure... but on a 600 lift cam, Naturally aspirated, you dont need a lot of pressure....
its certainly not a spring I would even consider using in a boost application at all.

235cc is great on a stock cubic inch motor....
its when you start to see the large valve sizes that it becomes an issue

Thanks for the input Scott. I like the fact that the head has more capacity than the springs can handle. It would allow me to upgrade later if I need more power. I am looking at matching the heads with a Comp Cam that has 232/234 @ .050" and .598" lift.

.002 from coil bind is not a match...
replace the springs immediately if you buy the heads...
its much easier to rent the giant c-clamp style spring changer and do them while the heads are off instead of fighting it while the heads are on the motor.

you want a spring that is atleast .025 more than your cam...Its easiest to just get a spring that will handle .650 lift and put a .025 shim under the seat

you can do math for spring pressures...its linear...
hell.. even draw a cheap graph on lined paper...
pressure vs lift
closed = xxx
open = yyy
draw a line inbetween and count lines..LOL

Scott, you have convinced me, I can actually get a set of the -3 Warhawks for $100 less which have a more substantial spring. I am actualy a mechanical engineer, so I completely understand your math equations. The coil bind for the -2 is at 1.160", so it is actually 0.052" from coil bind. Either way, I am going to go with the healthier spring.

yeah... sorry.. bad math...
the .600 springs would be fine as they are actually .650 springs.

Too late, I went with the -3 heads. Those springs are; 1.550": 200 lbs. @ 1.900", 480 lbs. @ 1.200", coil bind @ 1.150", max lift
MAX LIFT @ .700"
When I talked to comp cams they actualy wanted to spec me a cam with a touch over 0.600" lift, so this way I can go with their initial recommendation. I am not buying the cam yet, so I am open to recommendations there.

what are the springs installed at? 1.8 or a different height?
Important decision in your cam....

might be rated to 1.9, but if its only installed at 1.85, then your max till coil bind is less...

I am assuming 1.900" since that information is right from the Bill Mitchell web site for these heads. I cna always call them if not sure or just measure them when I get the heads. They should be shipped to me by Friday. I am still a few weeks from starting the engine build, I just had to jump on the heads because they were such a good price @$1200.

These going on a stock bore ls1? Seems like alot of head if so.. If the info is correct, they use a 2.08 intake valve. That big of a valve & intake runner size my hinder you instead of help.

They are actually designed for the small bore head, so I hope they work well. This is going in a weekend cruiser street/strip 68 Camaro, so I am not real concerned with everyday streetability.

Be sure to post the results from these heads. I've had the opportunity to pick up a set for really cheap and I've always wondered how good they were. Some pics would be nice too in the meantime.
