Default roller rocker new YT6645 vs Comp Ultra Gold 1.72

Just would like to read others thoughts on these two part numbers.

Heads: AFR 230cc v2

Spring specs:
155# @1.810
412# @ 1.210

The AFR site recommend Yella Terra Ultra Light.

Depending how how aggressive cam is we recommend the yella terras. We put the comps on and lost 90rwhp. Comp caused valve float power started to drop at 5500 rpm. Motor was a 427 TT AFR 245 hydraulic roller 235/235 with same spring pressures.

What's the lift on the cam you're going to use?

If the lift is around .600" or less the I'd just up grade the bearings on the stock rockers, if not I'd consider going with Jesel SS rockers. I've lost my trust in the YT rockers after breaking several with properly set up PAC 1521 valve springs.

.624 lift. Jessel is a good recommendation, but my friend 416 NA break them once a year. Car runs 9.8 NA FULL WEIGHT 01 Z06.maybe try T&Ds.

The Cam is BruteSpeed blower cam, not really an 'aggressive' cam. Somewhat I guess for a 347.
I was going to go with the trunion upgraded stock rockers, however, the head has bronze valve guides.

What?...so what's the opening spring rate on his valve springs?

He has bronze valve guides and needs rollers. YT are your only real option...plenty of guys running them with no problems.

XER lobes aren't aggressive?

YT did a recent design upgrade to further strengthen the rocker. Make sure you get the new design. You can tell because the location of the "1.7" is to the right side of the pushrod cup as you look at them from the roller tip end. Here is a link to show the differences: Link

Not a problem, just didn't want anyone to read this thread and think that XER lobes were easy on valve-train parts.

If I follow the thread, are you referring to your post that some Jesel's have failed as well? Also, some of the Jesels were not designed for more than stock lift, which Jesel set is failing?

Just the standard LS Jesels, exhaust ones were breaking while cruising around.

There was a thread on the other forum from someone I was corresponding with while doing my build (he was doing heads/cam at the same time) that had a set of Jesels and found out there was an interference on the bottom of the rocker such when the lift went much over stock. Jesel confirmed to him that they weren't designed for high lift. Here is a link to that thread if it will help in any way: Link

Lift is low 600s and no interference.
