Default 853's on a 5.3 I wanna do it

My brother and I are doing a 70 Camaro on a reasonable budget. I have a 5.3 and a set of 853 heads I wanna donate. I know its not going to be a screamer but will be better than the unknown SBC in the car now. I intend to mill .040 off the heads to bring the compression back and throw in a LS1 cam and LS1 intake. Any red flags you guys know of? Anyone done this before?

I'd do an Ls6 cam and ls6 intake if you want to stick to factory parts. Both will perform a little better than ls1 counterparts.

The only thing I would worry about is the combustion chamber on the 853s being bigger than the cylinder on the 5.3. If it is the air will come out of the head around the valve and hit the top of the block. It will work but just a bad setup. I dont know what the bore is on a 5.3 though.
