Oil Pressure = 81 psi (wtf!?)

Default Oil Pressure = 81 psi (wtf!?)

*post is for wicked98z(albert)*


Albert called me from work and says his oil pressure guage is reading 81 psi in his vette and wanted to know what would cause that. he could not get to a computer to ask, so he had me do it...

he said when he starts the car, it goes to 40 psi, then like a second later it will jump to 81psi...my sending unit is bad on my s10 and it acts like a tachometer...when the rpms go higher, the pressure goes higher...not sure...thanks for the suggestion though...

Mine does that when it is getting a little low on oil, damn oil consumption

When I am low on oil it is around 50 at idle but normal driving it goes up to 80 and stays there. Then I check the oil and its usually low, not allot, but just enough to make it do that, I have no idea why my car does that.

Oil pressure should go up when the engine is under load, and go
down with no load.

Just be glad you don't have low oil pressure! Check your oil like
the others have suggested. Your car may have had a light snack.
