Cool Can I exchange crankshafts without pulling the heads in a 5.3?

i need to exchange a 24x crankshaft for a 58x in my 2003 5.3 So i can use a 6l80e. Has anyone done this without pulling the heads? If this has been covered before let me know.

yes you can.. you might need to rebalance the crank though.

you could push the rods up into the cylinder bore when you unbolt it.remove the crank and swap the reluctor wheel .install the crank and pull the rod back down to meet the crank .mite need a extra set of hands .

Yes. If you are determined to make the swap to a different reluctor wheel, then swap the wheel on your crank and reinstall it.

Not only is the balance going to be off, the bearing clearances may be a problem as well.
