Default Thoughts on this cam, 231/235

231/235 .617/.621 111+4

Was recommended these cam specs from a local forum member who got it custom spec'd for his set up. But our set ups are very similar and he said he loved this cam.

So I guess was just looking for a cam breakdown, manners/idle sound/rpm range/shift point info

Car is a basic almost full weight 6spd, weekend fun time driving only. Any questions just ask. Thanks

That cam should be nice. 11 degree overlap so strong lope and good power potential. Range 2200>6700rpm (depending on overall combo). Peak with LS6 intake around 6300 rpm, shift 300>500 rpm after that. Potentially can add up to 50rwhp.

I think its a good cam for your application. It'll have an awesome idle and great top end. It'll also benefit greatly down the road with a nice set of heads.

Also might want to consider some 4.10s as your next mod.

That looks just like tickperformance sns stage 2 cam. Look at their website. I'm pretty sure that's the same cam. Its down a couple threads.

Pretty close, just a slight diff on the advance. This is actually a Pat G cam from a couple years ago. So im sold on the specs and obviously both Pat G and Martin like the cam so I guess now my question is what would be the difference between a +2 vs +4 on advance?

+4 will close the intake valve earlier, bringing the powerband a couple of rpms down; also it means less clearance on intake.

That would be a very nice cam for a street car like yours. It will have a nice lopey idle, good rpm range as Predator-z mentioned and smooth street manners. If or when you consider gears, 3.90 might be better suited for a car thats mostly just used for cruising. And a good set of heads would benefit nicely with that cam.

A 9" with 4.10's and drag wheel setup are the next on the mod list.

Mines similar. Got it custom from Martin. Can't wait to get it back, 231/235 .617"/.621" 111+2. Maybe I'll have some results soon! You should enjoy it, my tuner says it runs strong.

Should I worry about clearance with the +4 with stock heads/gaskets? Play safe and go with +2 or go with the +4 and move the powerband down where I would like it? I assume the +4 would make 3-5 more ft/lbs midrange with a sacrifice of 3-5 peak hp? Or are we talking bigger numbers?

Well it is up to you. Personally I invest in an adjustable chain and I degree my cams to desired ICL. So any way you get it you can play with the advance for desired powerband (or extra ptv)
