Default Flashing SES, rough idle

Good morning all. I recently acquired an '02 Z28 A4 with stage 2 SLP kit, ported MAF and throttle body and MSD wires. And programming/tuning. Yesterday at a red light it started shaking and the SES light started flashing. I took off and it went away. I stopped again and it came back. I was going to take it to Autozone and have them pull the code. The manual said it might be cheap fuel. I had been gassing up (93 octane only) at a Tom thumb near my house, but yesterday my wife put some 93 in it at Valero.Could the fuel quality cause that? Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Flashing SES.....means multiple cylinders misfiring...

Make sure none of those new wires are touching any parts of the metal exhaust piping.....

.

Like LS6427 said a flashing SES indicates multiple cylinder misfires. Check over all wires plugs. I have also had a bad set of plugs cause a multiple cylinder misfire condition also, the plugs had less than 500 miles on.

Trying to blame the wife ... Thanks honey. . No it wasn't the gas.
The MAF has been cleaned, the wires have been checked. I disconnected the MAF sensor and at first it wasn't doing the rough idling. But then it started, just seem to take longer. Does everyone think that there's a good chance this will fix itself by changing out the wires and plugs. I don't want to go through the trouble if there might be something else easier to check.

After cleaning the MAF, the SES went from flashing to steady, but like the wife said (thanks honey), it's still running rough.

Interesting. We checked to see if they had become disconnected but didn't really check for moisture. We've taken it back to the dealer where we got it and they've offered to replace the plugs to see if that was the issue. They've been really nice about it. If its not the plugs I'm sure they'll check the sensors.

The dealer has the car now. Don't know what the verdict is yet.
