valve length question

Bought some heads that have new valves and the exhausts (If I remember correctly) are a little taller than the intakes. Maybe .020" or so. Anybody know how tall the valve stem needs to be from the valve spring seat and how much is safe to remove from the ends of the valves, don't want to grind away all of the heat treating. they're Ferrea stainless valves if it matters. thanks.

What about using two different length pushrods?

would cause two different wipe patterns on the valves. Prefer to have then at the same heights

0.02 is about normal according to WCCH for factory heads. This would cause about a 0.012" difference in lifter preload with 1.7 rockers.

If you're that worried about the wipe pattern, then you may want to sink the intakes .020". GM spec is about 2.0", +/- .010" IIRC, but that's for the stock cam.
