Default NEED LQ9 timing chain help! What do I need/ to do

So im trying to do some research before deciding what to do on my LQ9. I want to get the most reliable timing setup I can but need some anwers!

This motor is in a street/strip car and will some some abuse (but not rev over 6500). Its a 8-71 blown iron LQ9 408ci.

I would really like to run some sort of tensioner/dampener for the timing chain. Ive read countless threads and searches and found some good info but its kind of all over the place. I would like some opinions on my specific set up if you please.

My first though was go with what Im used to on old BB/SB setups and run a double roller. After seeing issue both online and in person Ive decided that maybe this is not the best route.

Second thought was to use a dampener/tensioner. But I guess the LQ9 block will not allow this unless I use an adapter. Ok cool

Third: The "black plastic" LS2 "dampener" is better yes? I can see it prevents whip and entends chain lifr. Any other benfits? I see that the spring loaded tensioner (LS3) is not well though about. Opinion?

Lastly: This is my decsion as of now. What do you think?
-Adapter for dampener: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-30675600

-Cloyes Hex-adjust single roller w/ z06 chain: http://texas-speed.com/p-3928-cloyes...-bolt-cam.aspx
-"black plastic" LS2 dampener- http://www.texas-speed.com/p-399-gm-...FQdU4Aodf1sANA

Is this what I need? Overkill? Just right? Thoughts? Will this work with a stock style oil pump (going to run the melling)? I just want peace of mind and the most reliable setup i can make. Thanks!

I think the parts you have selected are very good. The damper will help with chain whip at higher RPM. The only potential upgrade would be the Cloyes with the JWIS chain. Contact the tech support at Cloyes and talk to them, they have been very helpful for me in the past.

I have the Cloyes with the IRL chain (no longer made but SDPC may still have some) which was the best single chain ever produced for the LS1. I also have the original LS1 tan damper, which Katech still had in stock recently. If your block is pre-drilled, then this may be a better option than the TFS adapter. Otherwise, your parts choice looks pretty good IMO.
