115k mi pulling the motor to do the top end, should i do the bottom too?
The motor in my '00 corvette frc has 115k on it. The car is roadcourse only for the last 8k mi, so it takes some abuse. It runs great makes good power and burns about what any vette burns in oil on a track day. All stock other than an intake and no cats. Last weekend my harmonic balancer came loose and trashed my power steering rack. I've decided to take this opportunity to pull the whole drive line since it needs a clutch anyway, and install a complete ls6 top end, lt headers, Texas speed cam, etc. So while I have it out, should I do the bottom end as well? I don't mind spending the money, I will do all the work myself, but what kind of machine shop work will I need to do the bottom? I'm assuming the crank should go out for polishing, but what else? Its kind of a time thing since I want to have it back on track in may. My plan was to just do the top, then build a whole new short block as time and money allows, then do the swap this winter. What do you guys think?

Since you are going to have the engine out and dont mind spending the money i think i would be a good idea, more insurance.most people just have the block honed, and decked when rebuilding.
