Whats it take to get 12's

Hey guys new to ls1 stuff, i have seen people pull 11's with bolt on's, and people also run 13's. Im looking at a 1999 z28, and im just curious what these car could run with lets say, longtubes, full exhaust, cai, 4.10's, and a t56? Any insight would be great, or tell me what you run/ran with bolt ons.

Low 12s at 112 with a good driver and a tire is realistic with the right setup

In response to the mods you have listed, see the video below:

In response to what does it take to get into the 12s in an f-body? A good driver and good air.

A bone stock ls1 can do 12s in good da.

Is your car a t56 or auto? Thats the main question a stall will get you there, or gears most likely if its a 6 speed and your clutch will handle it.

Maybe an M6, you won't see many A4's pulling 12's stock. Especially not when all of them are over 10 years old now.

I've ran 12.6x with full bolt on minus an underdrive pulley, bogging off the line. Stock gears. Went 12.9x with just full exhaust. This is in a m6.

I remember watching a video on you tube of a stock auto with a stall with no bolt ons or cam etc... pulling the front tires

Here it is just did a quick search

Depends on where you start at. I've seen bone stock f bodies run anywhere from 12.9 to my own car at 14.1

Running a t56 you biggest challenge is the 60 ft. IMO the first mod for any car that's going down the track is a sticky tire. Slap a set on and make some passes to set a baseline. There's no sense in making more power if you are battling traction or have to baby it out of the hole.

check out my sig 12.92 with no stall a4 first pass the only time the car was at the track and that was on skinny ass street tires and i didnt go full throttle untill just before the 1-2 shift

A couple years ago I bought a NBM 2000 SS A4 from Los Angeles and had it shipped. Just under 100K on the clock. Showed up needing some maintenance. After new plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, Sea Foam, and adding used long tubes, a used lid, home ported TB, and a couple "free mods", she ran a 12.91 in so-so air.

I was thinking I was going to bracket race the car a bunch so I also added a rear end girdle and deeper finned trans pan. Turned out the car was not consistent enough, and I was no longer consistent enough :( to take home the win. Raced it 5-6 times and took home one trophy.

Back when I was in my bracket racing "prime" I took my wife's B4C to the track 6 times and took home 4 trophies.

Turned out I was no longer up to the level of the locals (It's an hour and 20 to an hour and 30 minute drive for me) that go to the track every damn weekend and barely need to run time trials before the put the number on the window.

I needed another truck, so I ended up selling her and thus ended my attempt to get back into bracket racing.

I went 12.8 @ 109 with a lid, ported TB, free ram air, and Flowmaster muffler. Consistent 1.9 60's on all-season tires (I do have lower control arms and relocation brackets). DA in the 500-600 range.
