Looking for a good street/strip cam for a 99 Trans am stock LS1 shortblock with ported/polished 5.3 heads with 2.02/1.6 valves,not milled.Customer wants a rough idle,the engine in the car now is MS4 cam only,he likes that idle now its 111lsa.I dont think that cam will work with those heads ? I feel like he needs alot more lower rpm power as he hardly ever races the car.Other mods are LS6 intake,4000 stall.What cam will work good with the 5.3 heads without ptv clearance ? Thanks

I don't know...I have seen quite a few MS3 combos w/ the 5.3 heads

I'm sure someone who runs one will chime in, but I don't think its too big for what the intentions are.

He now has the MS4 cam not the MS3.I was also worried about the 2.02/1.6 valves.

I run those heads with a Torquer V2. No clearance issues, makes great all around power, and has a pretty rough idle as well

My 228/232 111 cam in combination with my PRC 5.3 heads makes 470WHP thru an LS6 intake...

You don't need a donkey dick cam to make good power up top.

I run Predator Z's El Toro cam with my 5.3 heads. It only has 9 degrees of overlap so it will not chop as hard as the MS3 or 4. I Should add that my heads have been milled to 59cc without any PTV issues.

The PTV clearance is tighter with the bigger valves, but duration not lift will be the key factor!! Best bet is let the cam gurus answer that one! Give Martin@TickPerformance a call, their SNS Torque Max series might fit the bill!!

A stage 2 SNS torque max will be very nice with his mods. Martin recommends them as well since people dont complain about it and its a great proven product.
