Default Guess we are going to do H/C on the Z06... Need Advice.

Looking for maximum power from 4500-7000, street manners and emissions be damned.

First thought is:

Grand Cup cam
GM CNC 11:1 heads
Breathless Long Tubes

What are my other serious options for an M6 in the $3500-4000 price range that will make this bitch rock?

Drag race and AutoX, with the emphasis on Drags.

Too hard to use the car as a daily driver anymore, because of the kids, want to get low 11's NA.

There are probably a half dozen sponsors that can do a much better then the GM CNC head. We have had our heads make as much as 100 RWTQ in some parts of the power curve over the GM heads. Hope this helps.

McRat, as far as cylinder heads go I would give Richard at West Coast Cylinder Heads a call. He's right down the street from MMS in Reseda and he's gotten some great numbers out of LS1/LS6 heads and is a great guy. I think he got 340cfm out of a set of LS6 heads for Dave (Formulation/427 LS1). He's a sponsor here so you can find his info there--->. If you're only purpose is drag racing/auto x I'd go with a solid roller cam for max power. Futral Motorsports has made some awesome power with some solid roller's even with a stock LS6 intake. I'd go with 1 7/8 headers and a higher CR (maybe 12.1) if you're going with an aggressive heads/cam setup and don't care about emissions. Good Luck

Thanks Tony.

We are prob gonna get 1 7/8" tubes, looking right now.

I want to run the Z06 sodium valves and springs. After hearing so many horror stories about busted valvetrains, I think I'm going to trust GM's springs and valves.

All the heads I see when I look are more $$$, and the need cores. I'll check out West Coast.

The reason why I'm leaning towards GM stuff, is that it tends to be fool-proof.

I can't find anyone selling a solid cam. Who makes sells solid cams?

IIRC GM doesn't make any springs that will support "good" cams. Many people run quality dual springs for peace of mind. If you go with average-aggressive lobes, and not too high of a lift, then it should last a while I imagine.

Wow. That's ballsy for living in CA. How are you going to pass emissions?

Dave Farmer ran the GA cam for a couple seasons in the SCCA/World Challenge Series. He told me he ran stock lifters, stock rockers, stock valves and the GMPP heads ( by the Rules). Spun it to 7500 routinely and replaced parts as needed. He felt all the GM pieces were very durable. FWIW.

That's the thing that worries me the most, the 7500 part. I don't know if the cam will put the power up too high. I'm going to shift at 7000, so I degree some retard(?) into it.
