Default LQ4 build cam specs?

Hey guys. its getting to be that time to tear down my engine and rebuild it before it goes back in my chevelle for good. right now its a stock lq4 with 80k miles on it. starting to put together a parts list and plan my build and in need of some advice.

its a 70 chevelle with a t56 and a 4.10 posi rear. i did long tube headers and cold air intake as part of the swap and switch to ls1 intake for looks. im kind of on a budget so i want to get the most bang for my buck but not go too over bored. i want to stay naturally aspirated and dont want to change the heads. the machine shop will prob punch it out .030 over and i will put flat top pistons in it. i will prob go to an ls6 intake.

its going to be street car and occasionally go to the track. i just want it to be a really fun car to drive and beak the tires loose in as many gears possible lol

so that being said what cam specs will be best for me? thanks in advance

Talk to the OP hear for custom cam specs. He knows his stuff and it is well worth the $25 to get what you want from your build. What headers did you use...I have a '72 Chevelle?? Did you use 1" setback mounts and how was the fit and ground clearance??

i used a set of dougs headers swap headers. they kit alright... i had to shave a little off my bellhousing on the right side where the starter mounts and had to heat them up and bend them down a little. they were right up against my floor pans. so ground clearance wise there is plenty! i used dirty dingo stock position plates. im using mechanical linkage and needed my bellhousing in the stock location for the clutch fork and rod lengths off the z bar. looking at it now too i dont know if 1" set back mounts would have cleared my firewall.

ill brag i know a thing or 2 or 3 myself lol....knowing what size diameter header size is and budget would help alot in picking the right cam for you. truck tbss intake better and cheaper than ls6 and should fit with a cowl hood. milling the heads .030 would bump compression significantly and cost less than boring and swapping pistons which at 80k miles shoudl still be okay. a 228-232 cam seems to be the sweet daily driver street strip ideal cam in a 6.0 with at least milled .030 317 heads or unmilled/milled 243s. lsa of 110-112 will give that lope and torque. feel free to pm me for 2nd opinions, etc. good luck with your project....rob
