Stock GM Crankshaft Strength
Anyone have any stories of running stock GM cranks in 500+ HP applications and how reliable they are?? I plan on having forged rods and pistons with the stock GM crank and would like to push around 500-600HP. In my case it is a 5.3L 3.622" crank.
Let's hear it!

I plan on initially running a 150 shot until I have the funds to purchase a P1SC Procharger and running 7-10 PSI along with the nitrous. I just would rather build something that is going to last, rather than tearing it down in a year or two because something silly had a failure.

Stroke it and get a forged crank. You will never lose sleep over it. Just because others have done it, doesn't mean its reliable. You will see threads all over this forum of people pushing parts to the limits and they hold up ok, but doesn't mean its right....

I'm not boring it, I'm not stroking it. I just want it to be strong. I've always been a simple person, and if it works, then it's good enough for me. It's going in a 92 S10 for goodness sake. A stock 5.3 would roast, let alone the motor I'm building. My main goal for this is to have my future son drive this to prom, if that's any correlation to what my goal is with the truck.

The stock cranks seem to pretty stout. I am betting this is largely do to the stout block 6 bolt design.
