Glenn's G5X-2 Heads/Cam Dyno

He is on the way home from dyno tuning the car. The engine has not even broken in yet and we stopped tuning early as it was getting late. Glenn will post more information soon.

Jeebus - nice numbers!

One thing that is evident is that it is a big cam - it is peaking way up in the power band, but oh what a peak. Hope that car gets to the track.

the motor only has 20 miles or so on it, so theres more there when it loosens up. i'll post up as we make progress.

I don't know Glenn... that cam seems awful big for a RR car. 30 minutes of high revs at a time. I hope you have really good springs and plan on checking/replacing them often especially if you plan on revving to 6800 rpm.

springs will be replaced every 1-2 years, depending on how much track time i see. and i'll most likely shift this thing @ 6.4K.

Bottom end torque is hideous, but the topend looks extremely respectable. Congrats!

Re: Glenn's G5X-2 Heads/Cam Dyno

Yeah the torque does seem to be a little off compared to the other G5X dyno sheets floating near the top of this forum. The other ones all seem to hit 350ftlbs at or around 3k, it takes to 3.5k for this to get combo to get up there? Granted, the other two dyno sheets are cam only cars, so does adding heads cause it to lose torque down low, or is this a tuning issue?

Jason,
This car is not fully tuned. Plus he has new pistons and rings that are not and the engine is still a little tight. good eye though, We were just tired and decided to finish the tune after he got some miles on it.
Thanks
LG

Definitely a very strong package.. do you have the tuning for a cam only G5X2 down well enough to be comfortable doing a mail order tune?

What kind of heads? Have they been milled any? Compression ratio? Thanks, Shawn

C'est la vie, now we are selling the parts mail order and we can work with you on mail order programming as well, but realize it will only get your tuning close and we can not gurantee it will work absolutely. All cars and parts you choose to use can and will make a difference on your car- different brand heads, headers, cats, compression ratios, intake boxes, MAF, etc will all make a difference in tuning your car. Tuning is not a one size fits all solution. The best thing to do is to use our mail order tuning as a baseline and have someone else finish up the tuning on a dyno with a wideband oxygen sensor. We will do one round of touch up tuning if you have any issues or adjustments with the program after the initial programming.

Additionally if you have LS1 Edit yourself or someone you know locally has it we can work out the tuning by emailing the file back and forth and help make adjustments for you. If this is the case you will also need access to a dyno or at lease some sort of diagnostic tool to let us know what the car is doing so we can make adjustments as needed.

Just to fend off the negative responses with the lowend, take a look at my graph

When everything is sorted out on Glenns car, it will have the same lowend my car has

Re: Glenn's G5X-2 Heads/Cam Dyno

I would have to agree that I have my work cut out for me in the tuning department. If you notice at 2K it is above 300tq, but then there is a dip. After a little more work the tq curve should come up closer to Louis graph. I actually wanted to do more pulls on the car, but Glenn pulled it off the dyno and wasn't concerned. We had met his expectations for the day, and he wants to break in the engine before finishing the tuning.

Keep us updated on progress. I want my car to be a road race car too. What was done to the shortblock?

Thanks,
