Default Removed My Stock Intake Manifold: Yuk!!!

Man, I am shocked at the amount of carbon that had built up on the intake runners.. To me, it is so bad, that I am simply going to remove the heads and wait until I can get a set of Stage 2.5 LS6 heads before I put things back together.. I had originally planned to install the parts listed below, put everything back together and wait on new heads. Looks like the old girl will be down until the end of summer.. Btw, this is probably what happens when you run an aftermarket cam without tuning

Anyhoot, I thought I would share a couple of pictures showing how bad the buildup is..

Once I get the new heads, I am also adding an Fast 92 Intake, Nick W. 92 TB, Racetronix fuel pump, new 42# injectors, and the 2004 LS6 valley cover..

Cheers,

Q

I have change intake gaskets on several stock 5.3L and 6.0L engines that look similar or worse, seems to be the norm on how they build up like that.

A lot of that is due to how the LS motors oil down their intake tract. Installing an oil catch can on the PCV system is a very good idea on ANY LS engine.

Emissions controls suck donkey dick. Imagine if this was still the early 60s and EGR systems and that kind of nonsense wasn't necessary on our cars to pass state air control stuff... OMG the beauty of the past.

I hear ya! my 6.1 hemi has no EGR from the factory and the intake tract is always clean.

Rgr the catch can..

Although I purchased a catch can, I also purchased the 2004 LS6 valley cover which should help out. I am not too worried about the current stock heads as those are going to be replaced..
