Default Good street manner cam?

Hey everybody! I have an auto 02 SS with boltons: headers, catback, lid, filter, etc. im wanting to put in a nice sounding cam with good drive ability. I dd it, so cant go crazy.! If I could 370+ rwhp and mid-high 11's id be happy! I understand ill have to get a stall. Not wanting to go higher than a 2900 stall if possible.

I really just want my car to be a fun daily driver that i can take to the track occasionally that can actually perform!

Thanks!

Austin

It is all in the tune... Seriously, 100% in the tune. A good tuner will make an Ms4 driver better than an alright tuner with a 228R.

I recommend something similar to a 228R.

Even more so than that, I recommend something considerably larger than a 2900 converter for many reasons.
Look into something around the 3400 size minimum.

It will be incredibly close to stock.. After a week or so of driving you will never notice it.

Put a good cooler on it... Don't hot lap it at the track.

Heat kills the 4l60e.

From all the research I did when looking for a cam I have heard nothing but good about the 228r. I went with something close to that with mine. I just got mine installed and even untuned just cruising it is still very driveable. But like Lemons said it is all in the tune.

The F13 under performs in most setups. Not blaming the cam but it is something to consider.

Yank SS3600 with a 228 range cam but other than 228R.
Ed Curtis Streetsweeper cam or call Martin at Tick for a similar grind.

228R cam is a great all around cam. Or call up Martin or Pat G for a custom grind cam to get the best bang for the buck!

TSP 228R. Since you dd the car you want something with good power under the curve. The 228R makes insane low end power and really doesnt give up much up top to the donkey cams. Since you have 241 heads your car with a 228 cam only will probably throw down 380-400.

Default 228

228 sounds like the right cam but just put a few minutes into a phone call to TSP - they will definitely point you in the right direction.

IMO, you need to figure out how important valve train longevity is to you also, that'll help determine what lobes to use.

225/230 .612"/.609" 112+5

Torque monster. Shift at 6500rpm, peak hp at 6000rpm, peak torque at 4800rpm. 3.5* of overlap will allow it to drive great even with a dismal tune. Will work great with a 2800-3000 stall.

With a stall, I'd care less about power under the curve...

But that's a good cam suggestion from Martin that would work well with like an SS3200 (would drive very tight).
