What is a ported set of 243 heads worth and what kind of performance gains will I get from them on a lq4. I plan on using either an ls6 or ls2 intake. Thanks guys.

Good Cnc ported 243s are worth at minimum $1000...the regular 243 are worth 350-500 depending on condition and which valves they have...port work is around $700-1000 depending on who does them and if a valve job is involved

I found a set of 243 heads that were ported for 700. They are not cnc ported. it comes with stock valves and springs unassembled.

Before pulling the trigger on them make sure they were ported by a reputable porter, if its a home port job I would stay away. Most of the time people do more damage then good.

I was thinking as much, he says hes been doing it over 20 years in his garage and does it for multiple makes. I am gonna pass, he says he also has some dart 225cc ls complet with tooley springs ss valves all new for 1400. I will just keep searching for a set of stock 243's with decent mileage and get a valve job on them seems like the "sure thing".

If he has actual flow numbers and runner volumes, ported heads from the unpopular people can be a decent deal. They won't be worth a premium during resale though.

You have to be really careful on ebay, lots of junk on there. Read in the dyno section & make a decision based on results you see. The PRC LS6 heads are priced very aggressively so I think you'll find they are a great option. We also offer the PRC as cast cylinder head for slightly more which gives you a full aftermarket casting for a bargain price! We've had customers making past 500rwhp with the as cast PRC heads!!
