Default aftermarket lifter recommendations

I've got a friend with a 5.3L bone stock Suburban 4x4. I think its 01. Anyways he's got a lifter squeaking. The truck has 178k on it IIRC.

We're comparing numbers on going reman long block, or doing cam/lifter replacement on his engine. GM is very proud of their lifters, are there any quality aftermarket lifters available? Not wanting high performance racing type lifters, just a quality replacement.

Here's the list of parts im going to recommend to him, any thing I'm missing?
Camshaft
Lifters
Oil pump
Timing Chain
Front cover gasket
Head gaskets
Intake gaskets
Valve cover gaskets
Head bolts

Thanks
-Patrick

Yes, the BTR SLR lifters are a flow matched set, and are about $200.
I'd go over the rockers and check for loose or missing needle bearings, excessive wear on push-rod cups and the tips, and look over the pushrods for excessive wear on the ends, and if they're bent any at all.

pm sent.

We had the drivers valve cover off last weekend and went over the rockers and springs visually, removed the first 4 rockers (in pairs) and the lifter squeaking went away.

Oh and his truck is actually an 04 if that makes any difference
