Shims too little, no shims too much??

Shims too little, no shims too much?? Used the shims that came with the yella terra's, and it clanked like hell. Took the shims out and got about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns of preload. That seem like much?? Only other option is to get 7.35 rods right?? And will that work??

Yella Terra told me that 1 to 1-1/4 is not bad. If you want to get them exact you can set them up in pairs (in/out). Each .0015 thick shim is about 1/4 turn. With this calculation you can get pretty close if you want to spend the time to do them all. Otherwise I don't think I would worry a whole lot either way.
