Default Shims too little, no shims too much??

Used the shims that came with the yella terra's, and it clanked like hell. Took the shims out and got about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns of preload. That seem like much?? Only other option is to get 7.35 rods right?? And will that work??

Yella Terra told me that 1 to 1-1/4 is not bad. If you want to get them exact you can set them up in pairs (in/out). Each .0015 thick shim is about 1/4 turn. With this calculation you can get pretty close if you want to spend the time to do them all. Otherwise I don't think I would worry a whole lot either way.

I'm running a 1-1/4-1-1/2 turns. No problems. Stock lifters like alot of preload.
