You already have an ls6 intake on your engine...

Stock 243 castings are 350-600 depending on condition..

But after getting them cleaned up/resurfaced, depending on condition again the price is getting up there..

I would look at some vendors to the right >>>>
Like tick performance, Texas speed etc...

And they have head/cam packages that are hard to beat.

It comes down to how much time do you have and what do you want to spend.. You can do a budget H/C build for $1,500-$2,000 or save some cash over X amount of time and go aftermarket heads/cam for $2,000-$3,000..

Add a tune $300-$500 and I would upgrade to 36lb-42lb injectors $150-$250

And if your not doing the labor then add $1,000-$2,000 for labor.. These are rough estimates, but aren't far off, choosing a shop to do all of it is another story. Pick someone who has worked on these engines before..

Or do what most of us do, learn yourself..

Good luck

@Burken01 thanks for the feedback and ideas... So what would you suggest doing intake manifold wise? Port and polish? Or aftermarket like fast or something are they worth the money

Depends on what you consider "worth"

A fast 92 setup used is 600-750, New they are 800-850 and will add 15-20 hp over an ls6 once you have heads/cam and some good long tubes..

I would not port the ls6 Intake, I've never heard of it doing a whole lot on them.. But a ported fast 92/102 is a different story lol..

A typical H/C ls1 with long tube headers will churn out 420-440hp to the wheels, but an aftermarket head/ big cam with let's say a fast 102 and some 1 7/8 headers should be in the 440-470 range..

So is an extra $2,000 for aftermarket heads, fast 102 setup "worth" it? Well you be the judge

That extra 20-40 hp doesn't mean a whole lot to some, to others it does..

this is most likely what i am going to buy or somewhere along the lines of it and i already have the longtubes i would be happy with somewhere around 425 whp after a tune and biggger injectors.... http://www.texas-speed.com/p-1164-pr...m-package.aspx if you think thats attainable what cam do you think would work best

Those are 6 liter heads with a 4.00" bore, and 72cc..

I would look into the 2.5 5.3 heads or ls6 head package.. They are more suited to your engine since your at 3.900 bore..

As far as cams go, I'm not an expert lol.. I've had the torquer 2 in the past like 3 years ago and it's a solid street cam.. Maybe someone else will chime in on cam suggestions..

Is this a city daily driver or will it be a max effort/race car? Knowing that will narrow your cam choices..
