Valve Springs for Road Racing and AUTOX
Ive been researching what springs to use with the cam setup I am planning to install on my 2002 z06. My plans for the car is to go on autocross events and a little road racing as well.
my question is is there a reliable aftermarket spring for this sort of application. the cam I choose is a comp cam 228 230 .571/.572 112 lsa XE lobe. I chose this because I have found through my research that its a mid to low level cam with not too aggressive ramp rates. Im looking for longevity and reliability in a valve spring to go along with this cam.
I realize dual springs are supposedly safer in case I drop a valve, but my understanding is that they have to be replaced every 10K miles or so. And I rather not drop a valve in the first place.
so if you autox or road race often and have an aftermarket cam, let me know the specs and what valvespring setup you are running and what type of valve as well since i have heard that the stock ls6 valves tend to snap but i dont know if there is any truth to this (i was told this buy a guy who races c5 z06 on circuit tracks and has been doing so for a long time. he has like 5 of them)
I would like to use this cam i have already and not have to resort to putting in back a stock cam because its starting to look like the stockers are the only true reliable ones. maybe GM hot cam. who knows.

for an auto-X application, PAC Racing 1221 duals with a lightweight tool steel retainer package will a great choice for that stick. More expensive than the imported springs but nothing beats a high quality USA manufactured product.

Thanks for the input guys. After researching a little further I have come across the PSI 1511ML. these appear to be a very strong example of what I need in a beehive spring.
after reading DAMIAN's post in this thread they look like they may be the winner
