Heads and Cam advice

Looking for advice on a heads and cam build I am starting. My car is a 2000 Camaro with 80k miles. The car had a Procharger on it but it’s off now. I am planning on just doing a heads and cam build. Parts I have on the car are LS6 intake with Deka 60lb injectors. FTP 104 air intake and off-road headers, cat-less y-pipe and flow-master mufflers. Car has an aftermarket fuel pump and aftermarket clutch. I was planning on sending my 241 heads to AI and have them match a cam for it. I want something bigger than a 228 but not as big as a MS3. My car is not a DD but I only drive it on nice days. Any advice is welcomed.

depends on your budget I suppose. you can get some really nice hp/tq out of heads and cam tune swaps depending on how much you want to spend.

Just have to ask. Why did you remove the Procharger?

Get the best heads you can afford...AFR,TF, MAST then have the cam built for the heads. I am sure you know a Fast intake will really help out too. 1 7/8 headers ect....

Look into a Torquer 2 cam if you want something in between the two cams that you mentioned. I had that cam on my previous setup with my PRC 5.3 heads and it was a good match

check out a TSP head /cam combo ,mite get them on sale for Xmas .are you keeping the current injectors ,or getting smaller ones ?

those injectors are overkill for this build. send the heads off for porting etc and get a cam to spec, maybe something in the low 23x's.

Go bigger on the cam than you think.....with good tuning now days you can make big cams drive close to stock. I personally wouldn't spend the cash on premium heads....plenty of guys making great power on worked LS6 heads and its a 1,000 difference.

Thanks that's great advice. Budget I don't want to spend that much money on AFR. I think I'll find some 243 in good shape and maybe have them cleaned up. I sold my kit to fund a turbo build on a roller I picked up. What heads and cam would it take to beat a TA using 227 PRC heads and a MS3.
