Default Ls1 12552216 crank pic

Just being paranoid, but is this 12552216 crank the one with the 1" gun drilled hole thru the mains(made to go in a LS1)?

Thats the # I have on my original crank sitting on the floor. Came out of my LS1 block for a 4" stroke.

Yes, that is the correct "casting" number. But there are different "part numbers" for that casting. The 5.3, later 6.0, and all ls1 blocks used the "216" casting crank but they were not all gun drilled for a 1" hole thru the center mains. Only the ls1 crank received this treatment to assist with windage at high rpm and also received a plug in the rear of the crank in said hole to prevent oil leakage. The crank weights would also be different amongst the different engines.

My question is this: is the hole on the side of the main to the right in the picture indicative of the entire assembly being gun drilled? Or is this hole just a shallow indentation that does not extend beyond any depth visible in the pic?
(The very front main, which is on the left in the picture, never has a center hole in any application.)
