find the big AIR pump located underneath the two fuse boxes in the engine bay and just trace all the rubber hoses and remove them as well as the pump (4 bolts and a few connectors)

What about fuses and vacuum line on the back of the manifold that needs to be capped that I can't get my hand back there to cap

Mine just looped around behind intake on a metal bracket.no plug... I unplugged pump and yanked it all out.

There's no vacuum line directly to the manifod if I remember correctly. I ripped mine out and didn't have any left-over holes on the back of my FAST when I installed it.

There is an AIR pump under the fuse box in front of the driver front wheel. Yank that out. There's a big AIR valve next to the brake booster. Grab that and rip it out and the lines coming from it. I think there are two coming from it and one going to the AIR pump. I don't recall where they go, but I think they lead to the exhaust manifolds. And there is an AIR switch that is on the driver's side fuel rail. It's just behind the EVAP pump. Remove it and unplug the connection (mine is just dangling out of the way).

There's also a line that runs to the air lid. Pull that and cap it.

I had a '00 SS and just ripped it all out. Shrink wrapped all the electrical connections and went on my way.

I just picked up a '02 SS and will be doing the same thing. Although I have to get some AIR block off plates this time.

You'll need to have the A.I.R. system tuned out of the PCM. Without tuning it out, you'll have a SES light.

Or keep your air pump and use it as a brake cooler.

Sneaky is right. I can't believe how much air the pump pushes. The information is in post #1, about half way down. Enjoy

The only difference between what Jim did and what I did is
1. I just placed the end of the hose on the spindle and cross zip tied it with lots of slack. Seems to work well.
2. I didn't add a switch. I just pulled the relay and used a small home made jumper wire. As long as you use the upper left to lower right or upper right to lower left, it will power your pump to cool your brakes.

Jim figured this out and it is free. Let me know if you need help with it.
