Default My Part Order - What year stock Parts to get? LQ4 + LS3 heads

Ok I ran into a Tech from a GM dealer today and we got to talking about my build im doing. I asked if he gets a discount and he said yeah dealer cost +15%.

So im trying to get a part list together for him to order for me.

My build
LQ4 .030 over with LS3 heads. This is a full rebuild and will be going into a 2001 Chevy truck.

I have these parts already.
Cam,Lifters,Springs,pushrods,pistons,rings,rods,be arings.

What I need is.
Timing chain.
oil pump
head gaskets
head bolts
harmonic bolt
valve cover gaskets
water pump gaskets
intake gasket
time chain gasket
8 offset rocker arms (ls3 heads)
Corvette fuel filter? (going from return to no return?)
injectors 42lb

Does anyone see anything else im forgetting?
What make model stock Oil pump, head gasket and timing chain should I get? Is there one that is better? Also someone told me I need a Vet fuel filter because no return? Make and model on that.

Thank you for all the help, I have to get him a list tomorrow with part numbers and just looking for some ideas on what to get.

You want the LS 6 oil pump, LS 2 T-chain(just the chain/uses your stock gears), the GM mls head gaskets and TTY head /balancer bolts.
You could also get all those items with one call to Texas Speed and probably save money as well as not burn up a
buddy favor.....save that for the late night install....LOL

It's not the pump you need. It's the vette filter/regulator so you can use the returnless rail.

So I went to a dealer today to get all GM part numbers so I can give to my guy to order. This is what they gave me, he said it was a ls7 oil pump as he couldn't find the Ls6, Also I will not be ordering from this dealership.

LS7 oil pump is dry sump, and will not work on your motor. I suggest you find someone else to get you a parts list.

Holy **** batman. $136 for a $50 filter. Buy your parts from a board sponsor and save a LOT of money. Call SDPC and tell them what engine you are working on and what parts you need. You will be much better off and your check book will breath easier too.
Get head bolts to match the block, not the heads.

Stop messing with GM parts departments. Most of the sponsors on here... like WS6Store on SDPC will sell you a shipped part for cheaper than the discount you're getting...

And it will be the right part.

Gandrud is good if you know the right guy to talk to, this poster's problem is the Tech who is trying to help.

What are the goals of the project?

I would suggest you completely rethink your plan. skip the LS3 stuff, use the truck intake and 317 heads that came with the LQ4, use the original rail/regulator/filter. Out all that savings towards valvetrain, stall and gears.

Stock replacement oilpump is fine, far as I know the trucks used the LS6 oilpump so ordering a pump for your 2001 truck with 4.8-6.0l engine would be the right one. Just spending time in this section leads people starting with truck motors to assume they have the same issues built into the early LS1s.

I don't know what kind of pricing Gandrud could give you walking in off the street but I know that if you talk to the parts guys directly you would be further ahead quality of info wise. Since you don't directly know anyone in the parts department maybe use a sponsor here for major stuff and walk into Gandrud for the little fasteners and such you find yourself needing mid project.

I already have the Ls3 heads (new) and l92 intake, really no turning back now. I will call some sponsors today and get some prices on gasket sets.

I hope I can post this but anyone ever use these gaskets from ebay? $121.68 shipped
http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-03-Cadillac-GMC-Chevrolet-Hummer-6-0L-OHV-N-U-MLS-Full-Gasket-Set-/221151352513?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item337da5d6c1
I would for sure not trust the head gaskets and would have to get new intake gaskets but everything else is what I need.

I have a post up on my project here for what im trying to do.
