just bought a bare 98 6.0 lq4 block casting numbers 1255136 and a set of aluminum 317 heads. wanting to turbo it and put it in my 98 ls1 t56 6 speed Trans am.

but from what I've been reading 98-00 lq4 won't bolt up to my t56? just wanting to know how can I make it work without having to get another tranny or block?

thank you

The trans will bolt on to the block no problem.

I much appreciate the reply and also all my ls accessories will transfer no problem just not the cams right because 98 lq has a larger cam or something? but my intake manifold, crank and all sensors and wiring should all hook right up?also would appreciate it someone could shoot me a link for a ls1 to lq4 conversion. thank you very much

It's basically the same as the LS1 so everything transfers over, even the camshaft. The iron blocks are missing a threaded hole for the PS bracket on the front driver side, but a lot of people don't bother drilling and tapping it. Other than that, it's basically the same as pulling out an LS1 and swapping in another LS1, so there really isn't much of a "conversion" at all.

The only thing you'll need to do for your accessories is drill the alternator bolt hole on the driver's side "ear." All your sensors are identical.

It's the alternator bracket hole. Unless you're relocating the alternator, you have to drill/tap this.
