You want the 7.4 pushrods. What's your exhaust setup?

1 7/8 headers to a y pipe and its a 3 inch exhaust. Your 100 percent sure its 7.4 and not shorter and or longer?

Default Rod length and Shims

Correct pushrod length is determined AFTER cam is installed (may have different base circle than stock) and AFTER length measurement is made. Shim or no shim is again determined by measurement of installed spring height. (different springs may or may not have the same installed height)

so there is no way to know before hand? I was hoping shane or someone that worked at thunder racing may have known from previous experience or someone with the same setup would know.

Stock heads and stock lifters = 7.425" length pushrods with the smaller base circle of the T-Rex.

Which is a terrible cam. Pick something else.

Default Trex Cam

A cam with over .600 lift and over 240 duration would be a poor choice for a mostly stock LS1 with 853 heads. Save your $ for port work or a better set of heads before installing a "beastly" cam. (unless you are going for a nasty idle instead of making power across the band)

It did it in a gutted car most likely and nowadays people really haven't gone after that record as I'm sure it could be beaten. The trex has super aggressive lobes, kills springs, has no low end, and drives like crap. Even Geoff who designed the cam for tr will tell you all this.

Now with his eps lobes you can get a cam that makes the same or more power and drives a lot better

I'm saying it should drive a little better yes. However there's much more to how a cam drives than just duration. Your car has 22 degrees overlap and the other has 25 so yes it should but new lobe designs with less jerk and smoother ramp rates will make it drive better with the same overlap and make more power.... Like I said call Geoff and ask him how his new eps lobes compare to the trex HE designed

Want to know how to make it run "well?"

4.30 gears (or 4.56)
Ported heads with 58cc chambers & Cometic .040 gaskets (TFS 215s, PRC 227s, etc, or the TFS 220 or PRC 220s As Cast)
Flycut pistons
1-7/8" headers
3" true duals
FAST 102
underdrive pulley
Full rear suspension
drag radials (28" if 4.56)

It may hold the cam only record for LS1s, but I bet you those LS1s had a lot more supporting mods than you have.

Given your lack of supporting mods, yes it's a fuggin' horrible cam.
