Vengence racing Vindicator cam and LS1 questions.
K so a lot of you are probably going to crucify me for even asking.
I bought a vindicator cam 240/244 .605 .596 112+4. It was used but a good deal.
http://vengeanceracing.net/index.php...596-112-4.html
Now I have a set of new comp cams 918 springs (.625) capable. I would like to use these instead of buying another set of double springs.
Now, this cam would be going in my mostly stock 00 ws6 M6. Air lid, LT ORYP with cats and Flowmaster cat back. Stock heads and internals. 3.42 gears.
I'm worried that this monster cam is going to be too much for a non dedicated track car. It will see more street than strip.
I do like some lope and I'd love more power I'm just worried it won't be fun to drive.
So. Thoughts suggestions etc....
Thanks.

We always suggest running at least 4.10's in a M6 F-Body with the Vindicator, otherwise it will be sluggish as others have said down low.
Our VRX4 camshaft performs extremely well for most of our 3.42 F-Body customers. It is a 228/230 .588/.592 112+4
You can check it out here: Vengeance Racing | VRX4 Camshaft

I don't understand why every one always says "you will get out run by some one with a smaller cam". They say its good for the track but not the street. Who is going to go WOT from 3k RPM's when trying to race anyone or run their car hard?

IMO if the car has some really aggressive gearing it might be a tad faster than a smaller cam, but only through an extremely narrow range...say like the last 1000 rpm. With that said it's going to be somewhat tougher on the street to always be in that very small "sweet spot" to maximize it's potential...Hence why a somewhat smaller cam will usually be faster overall. That's just my take on it

For an M6 car; gears can really make/break how well it performs with a big cam.
I have the MS3 with 4.10s and it does pretty well, but I used to drive it with 3.42s and it was sluggish down low. That lower gear really help a to put you in the cams powerband quicker.

If your going to change gears anyway I would keep the Vindicator. Almost everyone that goes with a 224 or 228 cam wished they went bigger. I would go with 410 gears for 26" tire and 456 for 28" tire. I'm personally running a Vindicator in a full weight Trans Am, 243's, 4k stall, 410's with 28" tire. Still getting 23mpg and when I actually made a pass without breaking something I ran 11.6@118 rolling into gas off the line because i couldnt hook up.

I originally thought that as well. I did a little research and apparently people have run this cam which stock heads. I think it works because the lift is not very much even though the duration is pretty big.

Lift has nothing to do with PTV clearance. It's duration and LSA along with the advance on the ICL. Even if it does fit it's going to be extremely tight, and may not be enough clearance under load

This cam will clear PTV but is pretty tight. If my memory is correct there was about 50 thousands or so on intake with uncut 243's. I opted to mill for 11.5 compression and fly cut. I have the Lindy cutters and live near Williamsport.
