Default Spun a main, go new or rebuild?

So I bought the car two months ago. Second time at the track and spun a main bearing. Got one quote for a rebuild of the LS1 block at $4500 and $5500 for their 425hp package. For this price I figured I would just save up a little more and go with a texas speed 408. Should I find another shop or just go with a new block?

This is what I am going to do. These are iron blocks and heavier than stock although. They do have aluminum options too but they are more money. For they price either iron or aluminum they can not be beat.
aluminum ones

This is exactly what happened to me, and I went with a TMS 370 LQ9. Very good company to deal with

TSP builds good motors so does Thompson. There is no wrong way here, go with the one the meets your budget and goals. you will get 100 posts about who went with who and why they are the best thing since sliced bread.

If you spun a main, I'm surprised the block is even reusable.

Thanks for the reply. This will be a NA bracket car. I'll call both companies and see what they say.

Question for you guys. If I do go with a new LQ9 short block can I run my stock ls1 top end for now to get in back to the track this season then upgrade next year?

I'd go aluminum block in a bracket car. Maybe TMS has something for you. What kind of end result are you looming to get out of the new engine?

Mostly a track car with short weekend cruises. I want to stay NA, won't be a grudge car or anything. Just a bracket racing points car in the modified class.
