Default 400+ CID with 243's?

I'm considering buying a 400+ inch short block but I've got a nice set of ported 243's. Has anybody done this and had good results? Its my daily but I still want it to be fast.

Yes there are a few threads in the dyno section of 418" strokers making 550whp with a quality 243 head and fast intake.

Yep, I believe it can be done successfully. It may not be 100% optimal for an all out NA engine but should be a very nice driver.

The TEA Stage 3s made 600rwhp back in 2005 on a 440.

They are lousy heads, obviously.

Ported nicely and big enough valve they can be made to flow 330+ cfm which is going to be pretty good even for a 402 size stroker. Velocity might suffer down low, but with a stroker and decent compression you'll make plenty of torque down low to make up for that.

Think they just have bigger valves, 2.08 and 1.60. The porting is usually the same.

I'm running ai 243 heads on my 418. They perform very well imo. Sure I could of put some really nice afr 245's or even a set of ls3 heads on it. I had these heads already and had to stop somewhere!
