Default Lsx 454 cam what u guys think?

It's 236/246 on a 110, gonna be cam only car. Looking at it mainly cause it's a contengency item in the lsx challenge series, in other words I get money for winning or runner up. It's close to what I want in duration and right on for lsa. Looks like I should not have ptv issues. Supposedly this is a crane cam, not 100% sure tho. It's only 300 bucks too. Any dynos numbers out there, anyone running this cam, curious about what it peaks at. Been thinkin of going with Harland sharp rockers and btr springs or the dual conicals from comp if they have a set that will fit.

Really wanted something bigger but I run the risk of low ptv and no contengency money.

I don't think I stated it right, this is the cam out of gm's 454 crate engine going into my ls1. Your right it's not very big for a 454.

I don't know if I calculated this correctly, but that cam has like a million degrees of overlap, 21 to be exact. And a 10° exhaust bias. And it's huge for an otherwise stock ls1. In no way is it remotely ideal for a 5.7L ls1.

All that being said, I would run it, and see if it brings you home some cash.

I would look for a different cam if I were you. You can find cams that will be far more suitable for your stock cube LS1 in the classified section on here for $300 to $350 all day long.

I want it to have a lot of overlap, I want it to have a lot of duration, that's the point. Its a cam only setup. I guess nobody knows what that means. The car is far from stock. The goal is low 10's without a power adder. The engine has all the supporting mods. I've been 11.29 with a bone stock long block at around 3300 lbs and no power adder. The engine is called stock internal because it has stock valve train stock heads stock bottom end.

It has a ported fast 102 on it 1-7/8 inch headers, ud pulley, vaccum pump, running speed denisity. 104 lid and ssra non ac.

This cam is pretty ideal for an ls1 as it's has enough exhaust duration to keep the cylinder clean of exhaust gasses at high rpm and lots of overlap for high rpm scavenging. Both will help carry the power band higher and not fall off as quickly.

I've been considering this cam for my LS2, if anything as a baseline. I just don't know what the lobes are like, but considering it was meant for a GM crate engine, I'd assume they would be relatively mild.

I've seen them in the classifieds for real cheap too.

I thought about it but I don't like the lobes most of these people use with these cams they make. The lobes are too aggressive, if I done another cam I would spec it myself from cam motion.

that cam should do what I want it to do and make me some money in the process. I should not have a problem picking up half a tenth with it. I'm expect more but we will see. Not sure if I'm gonna put a cam in or not. Gonna investigate more on this cylinder with my small camera and see if I can check the stock cam and see if the lifters are still good.

Suppose to be the same cam as in crane cams catalog but I'm not sure. Has basically the same specs. I think it would be good for my setup but I'm sure I could make a little more power with something else.
