Cam gear diferrence

1 Attachment(s)
Is the any difference between these two cam gears? Do they have different cam sensors? Do they have different crankshaft sprockets?

Attachment 642764

Yes. Yes and no. No.

the one with the holes is for a gen III using a block mounted cam sensor

the one with the bar cast into it is for a gen IV with a 24x crank using a front cover mounted cam sensor

Actually the one on the left is from an 05 LQ9 with the cam sensor on the back, sorry I didn't specify. The reason I asked is because I'm intalling the LQ9 in my 98 TA and I don't know if I should keep its cam gear or change it with the older with holes on it.

With the cam sensor in the back, it doesn't really matter which one you use.

That may be, but it's the cam sprocket which would be used for the application I specified. I swapped one like on the right for the one on the left when I switched from LS1 to LS2 (from 05 GTO).

Wasn't really sure your purpose of asking.
