I'm getting ready to check pushrod length and PTV. The gaskets that came off this LQ9 have #12575392 on them.

My new gaskets are the popular 12589227.

The 12575392 apparently is not a GM part number although the bores are identical in size and look identical to the 12589227.

I want to use the old gaskets to check pushrod length and PTV since it's easier for me to change out the check springs with the heads off the motor.
Are these gaskets the same compressed thickness?

The new one should be .051 compressed thickness. Check the old one with a caliper and see if it is that thickness.

I tried, I can't get an accurate reading on it.

It looks like the old one is the OEM factory gasket (from whoever actually makes the gaskets) and the new set are just the service gaskets; same part just different numbers.

When I cross refrence the part numbers they come up as a direct match. I'm just surprised nobody has any real information on this.


GM Parts Giant says 12575392 was replaced by 12589227.
