Default Engine builders; need help

I hope someone will help me out. I have a 2001 LS1 (LS6 intake) from a Trans Am 84K miles. Will be going into a 73 Firebird. Plan is for a street/strip that can daily drive and may add a supercharger later. Looking to get in the 500HP range. I'm a wrench turner and need help with what I need to get.
Cam and springs: something upper middle between stock and super hot.
Heads: what do I need done to mine?
Pistons, crank, rods: stock ok our upgrade to?
Intake: stock with larger throttle body or FAST?
Thanks for any help. Last time I worked on cars a 3 Duce was the in thing.

Okay. First thing. Is this at the flywheel or the crank? Flywheel it can be done. But trust. Its going to take a heavy parts list to get you in the ballpark. With a 346ci that is. Now a 6.0 or up would be so much easier with less money along with being a lot more street tolerable and friendly.

You should have 241 casting heads and I would send those to Advanced Inductions for a CNC program. You can check Phil's website for before and after flow numbers. Id leave the shortblock together and stock. While adding what most would consider a baby cam however it would be very street able and work well with boost later

Thanks AR. What advice on the intake? Bigger throttle body or whole intake?

Unless you have some extra money to burn I'd just leave the intake alone....maybe have your TB ported if you like

I think I got some bad info. I was told I could get 500 before supercharger without breaking the bank.

At the flywheel, yes. You'll need ~425whp with a 6-speed to make 500 flywheel. Somewhere around 375-400whp with an auto, depending on trans/converter.

Find an LS1 setup using a trans similar to yours, and see what it took them to hit the power level you'll need.

It occurs to me that the only tall order here is making 500 N/A with a 5.7 AND being truly boost-friendly later. It's not impossible, but seems like one might be left having to really limit the effectiveness of the supercharger later.

Me, I would just swallow the fact that when I wanted boost "later" I would sell the (high compression?)N/A heads and put something on with less compression.

Just to use round numbers to illustrate my thoughts, it occurs to me like this:

500 N/A and can add a little boost to get to 600 before detonation and such.
400-450 N/A now and can add more boost later and possible make 650-700 with the supercharger.

I think you've nailed it. So what do I need to get there? BTW I have a built 4L60 E going behind it. Thanks again to everyone for helping and not making fun of me.

Honestly, I would just pick a decent boost cam and maybe a $200 set of ebay long tubes and grab a tune. $1200 in and you'll pick up ~50-75 HP. If you want to add a supercharger later, you can go fairly large on the boost cam without killing power with the supercharger.

That sounds like a good plan. If you wanted a little more in NA form, you could pick up some 243 or 799(stock on LS6, LS2, later trucks) heads and add another 20-30HP to that. 243s are like cash..pay $350 or so for a set and you can always get that back out of them if you don't beat them up too bad. They flow the best of the stock cathedral-port heads and bump compression up a little. Stock heads on a LS1 can make a lot of power though.
