03 sbe 6.0 what oil pump & timing chain
Putting together a 03 6.0 SBE with GM LS3 GM CNC'd heads Vic Jr,carb,200-300 shot of gas.I can get a GMPP Oil pump cheaper than a stock one or would I be better off to get a High PSI one,,Melling etc....
What's a good chain kit to get?I think I want to go with a double row one.Where's the best place to buy them? Thanks for any info.

Melling 10296 is my go-to pump. High volume, high pressure.
Cam Motion and Brian Tooley Racing are sponsors here and typically have very competitive pricing on cam-related stuff like timing sets and oil pumps(cams too, of course).
I talked to Cloyes a lot about double vs. single earlier this year and the bottom line opinion there seems to be that on LS, double chains are overkill. And after searching and reading, I agree. You just don't see broken chains on LS engines like you might on other platforms...save for the more extreme situations. Run a chain damper if you don't have one. Trick Flow makes a retrofit kit for earlier blocks to use a LS2 style damper. It's cheap, high-quality, and works.
If not aiming for rather high RPM, I actually like the Cloyes C-3220 single LS2 replacement timing set. 1x cam gear for your gen-IIII engine and you can pick it up, typically in stock, at O'Reilly for about $35!
Another strike against doubles..if you do go aftermarket, it seems to me you lose the Torrington bearing option with most or all of the double chains. Something to consider.

IWIS Chain & Camaro Pump
We fit the IWIS "single" LS-7 Chain, the strongest.
We fit the 2010 Camaro Oil Pump.
These items are very reasonable in price, used in most GM Racing Engines.
They fit well into the original area without modification.
Thus if you like "hype" & "large prices" just spend the most money you can for a item to l allow profit for an Advertising Account.

Thanks for the input,I've talked to Brian but we didn't get into oil pumps at the time. But he did say people try to over engineer these LS engines. They're simple and they work and they'll last.I'm trying to get the best bang for the buck as this is a budget build.
As for the oil pumps GM has a Performance Oil Pump and I didn't know if they would work just as good part # 17801830? I work at GM Parts Dealer so if I can get a GM part to be just as good and not cost me more then I'll go with it.
Thanks

What's your combo, mine will be track only and will turn around 6800-7000.I've always used Melling in SBF's but it was higher HP, RPM's etc,,,but I think I'll go with the GM stuff.

I run the cloyes C3220 LS2 timing chain, and it works great - much beefier than the LS1 chain and only $40

I spin it to 69-7000rpm. Limiter set to 7200, any lower and it will touch the limiter every time on the 1-2 and frequently on the 2-3. Just a weekend toy no track action yet. I have a old school g-tech and it pulls mid 11's on the street traction limited.
