Default Oil pickup brace - Yea or nay?

It seems like quite a few people have problems with low oil pressure due to oil pickup o-ring problems. And it seems that a likely reason for this is the fact that the stock pickup tube bolts to the oil pump with only one bolt. Of course, the oil pump itself actually has provisions for TWO bolts (which GM SHOULD have taken advantage of with a two bolt flange on the pickup tube). However, it appears that the aftermarket has solutions to this issue:

http://www.classicindustries.com/pro...s/1026000.html

Does anyone here use either of these braces (or any others that might be available)? Does it look like either of these braces might help the o-ring to seat better, thus eliminating any potential oil pressure problems?

I bought a brace.

Doesn't work with my Holley pan. Most of them are designed to fit a certain style pickup tube. In my case, low oil pressure when a pinched/torn O-ring. Has more to do with installation than the one bolt holding it on.

As mentioned, it has to do with proper installation of the tube to the pump making sure the o-ring is not pinched. I went ahead anyway and bought the brace that utilizes the extra bolt for assurance when I started my build. It doesn't cost much.

I purchased the "original" from BRP hotrods back in the day when they sponsored the board. They were the first to bring it to the market.

It's the same one from classic industries.

First build didn't use. Second I did. It's a nice little piece of insurance. If you don't have the motor out, you can use two bolts to get the oring in without pinching. If the motor is out its easy and it's just an extra piece of insurance.

If the motor is out, do it. It's cheap and easy. I can't recall the brand I used, but it had to go on before the front cover in order to get a socket on the bolt.
