I'm lost and need some help
 
I have:

2010 Gen IV 4.8L with a bad crank but good rods/pistons

and

A 2000 model 6.0L short block

and

243 heads

I removed the Gen IV rods/pistons to sell and took my LQ4 down to the machine shop. The crank polished out perfectly and 7 of the cylinders are within .0001 of 4.00 but number 2 needs honed to around .0004 because of some rust in the cylinder. My LQ4 pistons miked out to -.0002 (I think these numbers are correct)

So, I need to bore the LQ4 and I cannot decide if I should go .020 or .030 over. Machine shop said .030 would be fine and I am running NA and hope to be around 500WHP so nothing too crazy.

I obviously cannot use my LQ4 pistons but I have a set of good Gen IV rods from the 4.8

Can I use the Gen IV rods and buy some Gen IV floating pistons and be done with it?

I'm trying to find the cheapest route here and thought the better rods would be a little added bonus. I cannot seem to find any part numbers for Gen IV Hyper or cast flat top pistons at all. I was hoping for something on the cheap side like Speed-Pro etc with a coated skirt.

You can't use the 4.8 rods without the 4.8 crank.

Piston Size.
 
First, if you have the pistons ordered @ 4.007" THE "FILE FIT" RINGS (NPR) will fit with no end gap grinding.
The RacTec brand (Autotec) does not charge extra if it is a "shelf" part @ a + bore size.
You SAVE the cost of a block bore job.

PEP (Tony #146) has a sale now on rods with ARP bolts (Callies Compstar plant)
