When I bought by turbo car back the previous owner changed the oil because it has a fresh forged 5.7 with about 300 miles on it and said he put some cheap 10w-30 oil in since it was going to need changed again soon. Is it okay to switch to like a vr1 10w-30 racing oil? I used to hear that you shouldn't change between different oils but never really knew why. Or what would be recommended for a 5.7 with a turbo?

Most break in a engine on regular oil then switch to synthetic. VR1 Synthetic 10-30 is fine or Synpower 0-40.

I've run German Castrol, VR1 10W30 Conventional, and now am running Castrol Edge. All are pretty good.
