Default Gaskets For Valley Cover-Knock Sensors?

I know this may be something simple for you guys that have done it, but it's my first time (virgin!).

My gasket kit came with new rubber gaskets that look like they either fit down inside the tubes on the valley cover, or somehow attach to the bottom of the tubes of the valley cover?

I'm just confused on how they fit in/on the valley cover. Do I bolt the valley cover on the engine first, or do i attach these rubber seals to the bottom of the valley cover first then bolt it on?

For simplicity, can somone just tell me the order that these parts go on;
1. Valley cover
2. Knock sensors
3. Rubber seals
This is the order that I think things to go, but maybe I'm wrong.

I do have a "How To Rebuild GM LS Engine" manual but it does not cover, or even show, these rubber gaskets.

When I tore the engine down I removed the valley cover and one of these seals was stuck to the outside of the rear knock sensor. I destroyed it trying to get it off. the knock sensor body is also SUPER RUSTY where this seal looks like it should seal against the body of the sensor. I will be putting new knock sensors in so.. Help!
