Default 4.8 to 5.3

So I just tore down my 4.8 and my crank is pretty much shot. I could try and have my crank turned but I have a buddy who has a 5.3 crank he will give me. I need 2 new pistons and connecting rods as it is if I were to get my crank turned. I guess my question at the end of the day is, is it better to go 5.3 or try and get the 4.8 crank turned and replace the 2 pistons and rods? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Id get the 5.3 crank, and run the flat top 4.8 pistons with the 5.3 rods. Just gotta match wrist pins. Can run floating pins in non floating rods.

I would just go pick up a 5.3l from the junkyard. Or better yet, a 6.0l.

Get a 6.0 L and get You're 4.8 L 3.27" stroke crank turned and get longer rods and whatever pistons You need or maybe the stock 6 L one's will work and have gobs of torque do to the awesome rod ratio and have lots of ign adv without any pre-detonation so hp will benefit also. I believe Wallace Racing Calculators has calculations to figure out needed rod length and piston pin height to make this happen or some poeple on here

If you destroke a 6.0L, you lose torque. You won't gain torque. Whatever benefit you think rod ratio has won't upset the loss in displacement.
