Biggest cam for 241 heads & 243 heads?
I have a 2002 Z28 6-Speed with long tubes on a bone stock engine.
I did some research and found out that the biggest cam I would want to run on my 241 heads would be a 224/224-112LSA (which im sure is a big point of contraversy)
If I upograde to 243 heads, at that point what would be the biggest cam I would want to run?

Hmmmmmm.....................Guess I need to pull my 228/230 out then since I have 853 heads
You can put a larger cam in than 224. Your heads may not support it to its full potential, but it will still run hard. Read around some more on here and you'll see much bigger cams with those heads. If you plan to upgrade the heads later then plan on a cam that you will want to use with them and put it in or wait til you get the heads and do it all at once. Just my .02.

I had a 224/568/112lsa cam on my bolton stock headed ls1 for my first setup and it was a nice cam but after a week I wished I had gone bigger. A 224 cam would be the smallest cam I would recomend for some one wanting some power lol. Here's some reading materal for you. Stock ls1 with 241 heads... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...mparision.html

I've been running an F-14 (234/600/112) with 806 castings for a while - no problems. Pulls strong, but can tell it want's more flow. Porting up a set of 241's that should really wake it up soon.

Talk to the guys at Texas Speed & Performance or another respected sponsor. Tell them what your goals are. "Biggest cam" may not be what you're actually looking for based on your needs/uses for the car.

Dunno what's goin on in this thread but I'll throw this out there. MS4 and TRex are just about the biggest baddest cams you can run on stock 241s. I went with a TRex .608/.612 on 110+2 lsa. I trapped 123mph with a 3450ish raceweight. (ls6 intake/78mm throttle body) Nothin fancy. Mine made good torque too. It's a blast to drive around.

You can definately run some large camshafts with stock 241 heads, but that might not be what's best for your application. Whats your goals for the car? What future mods do you plan?
The MS3 & MS4 both fit fine, but there's several smaller camshafts we sell that make power earlier in the rpm... I personally like the Torquer V3 a lot, but the 228R is also a great camshaft for someone looking to keep the camshaft on the smaller side...
