Default Help ID these LQ9 rods and pistons....

Looking to possibly buy these....the owner "thinks" they are 02 or 04".
I have a fresh 04 LQ4 I'm wanting to put some flat tops in...I know the pics aren't great, but all I have. Are these the "better rods" with the dimple? Are these the floating pin style? Are the rods any better than my 04 LQ4 rods? Can I just put the pistons on my existing rods?
Thanks for some quick responses, they won't last long on this FB page....

Yes they're the Gen IV floating pin rods. No way to tell how they compare to your '04 rods as you could have either style.

Are the rods and pistons worth $150?
What would you do, swap wise, in my case? I'm pretty sure I have the dimple rods in my motor now.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Yeah that's about average for stock rods and pistons. It looks like those are flat top pistons so the main advantage is the compression.

That's why they caught my eye...I know LQ9=flat and LQ4=dished.
Is it worth the swap (tearing into a fresh rebuild) for the ? compression bump. Or just make it up with milled heads and bigger lift cam taking the P/V into consideration...

Actually, my current motor is LQ4 with milled L92 heads/LS3 intake = 426rwhp
With this motor, I was wanting to try flat-tops, cathedral heads, FAST intake, and a speced cam to hopefully make more HP.

If you have the Gen IV rods already and you're going to swap heads, there's no reason to do it. You can just set your head chamber to get the compression you want... unless you have to mill a lot more than you want to get there... and then the flat tops would be beneficial.

So I guess it depends on the heads you want to use and whether they start at 65cc or 70cc and what you want do cam-wise.

Well, that is my dilemma...on my current motor Brian BTR milled my L92's .025 to get to ~10:1 w/stock LS3 gasket (not sure of thickness). Current cam is 231/247 617/624 and I think I left some power on the table (should be BA on the juice though).
In this other motor I was wanting to put some AI 243's, flat-tops, ported FAST I have, and matched cam and get to 11:1....P/V is what I don't know much about.
I know the whole cathedral vs rectangular port debate, so was wanting to do my own test on which would make more power on a SBE LQ4. This too would be an all out drag motor, no street manners needed

Yesterday I picked up some never run 799's from a crate motor, for a song I think I'll pass on the flat top pistons and make up the 10 hp difference somewhere else. Plus, why tear back into a fresh rebuild?
Any opinions on how much (if any) to mill the 799's and a BA cam choice?
I will most likely contact some of the gurus, just anyone with experience with this combo would be great. Thanks,
