Default LS1 H/C questions...

I know it's 2017 so please bare with me... I have an 02 M6 Trans Am WS6 with 52k. No mods other than the SLP catback and skip shift eliminator. As of 2 days ago, I have a really ugly tick coming from the passenger head. For a while I've been wanting more power, but nothing crazy because I want to baby this car until I'm old. I hate the idea of riding around on a bad valvetrain part, and I don't want to have to go in there more than once, so I want to just go ahead and upgrade while its open. I've read PLENTY of threads on this, but nothing that pertains exactly to my situation. Since installing heads and a cam is just a bit past my abilities, I'm going to find a reputable builder in the southeastern VA(Richmond-VA beach) to put it together and tune it for me. In order for them to do so, I need to know what I need because if I say, "just build it to be a good DD", they might build it differently than I'd expect, thinking their version was perfectly fine. I just want the second opinions from the forum. What I'm looking for is a perfect head/cam package that will provide good low end torque because I don't want to be up high in the revs often. What I do know, is that I will be throwing on the FAST 92 intake/TB, higher flowing injectors, balancer, and LT's. I just need to know the crucial information about the heads and cam. please don't bash, it's best I try to get information from the guys that have done it over and over to find a solid combo.

Thanks, Alex.

I would suggest a set of Tony's sportsman heads with a very mild cam. Make great power without sacrificing DD comfort.

I agree with Darth, Tony will set you up with a great package, would also
suggest a Warr, or Holley 92 TB, the Fast TBs don't seem to have the best
reputation for ease of tuning.Check out the just completed & tuned
MMS 223 build in this section 466RWHP & 422 lb ft with a 227/232 Cam.
Cam Motion something like 225/230 114+3 would drive very mellow
could still hit 420-440 RWHP with attention to details.
Good Luck

Is it valve train or just an exhaust leak at the header flange?
