Default Trick flow Top End Kit Results

hi guys just wanted to post my results from installing my trick flow too end kit on my ws6 ls1. There aren't many results out there that I could find when I was debating buying it. I got the 515hp kit, the car has long tubes, full exhaust, injectors, 255 fuel pump, and a 92mm fast intake as well as 92mm nick Williams throttle body. The car is an m6 and put down 398 hp on a toughly setup mustang dyno. Results were disappointing IMO. Don't know if it was bad gas or that's just the results I got. So I just swapped for a bigger cam from lunati #60512. Next time I dyno again I'll post again. If I had to do it all over again I prob would have bought the hawks kit which already includes injectors/intake/TB. Would have been cheaper for sure

What are specs on the current cam? Also don't go by the dyno numbers. Take it to the track and see what it traps. That will be the true indicator

The trick flow cam was 228/230 585 lift and 112 lsa. The currently installed lunati cam is 232/238. 599/601 lift and a 113 lsa with a 109 icl. I haven't had any street time really with it bc I'm rebuilding my 10 bolt right now

Yeah that cam seems fine, I wouldn't worry much about that. If your trap speed confirms low power then there's an issue BUT....if it doesn't then that tells you something about dynos

You were probably making around 480 crank already...a fast 102 would make more up top. Dont get hung up in bench racing. Just tune it and leave it alone it will perform fine. I think the lunati cam is too much for that combo but if thats whats in there then just run with it. Dyno racimg is dumb. Wayyy too many variables with the dyno and the weather, altitude, parasitic losses and more. The only way to know is to benchmark on the same dyno. So stock which was probably 285-300ish to 400 isnt anything to scoff at. Thats probably 515 on an engine dyno, no accessories and headers purpose built for the dyno.

515 is a stretch for that kit unless it's on an engine dyno like B said

TrickFlow rates their kits as crank HP. That kit with a manual car, should see around 420-450 rwhp if it really makes 515 crank HP.

Wow yeah that's impressive, I'll have to take it to the track this summer and see how It does. And it's definitely not too much cam for this setup, previously I had a trex cam before so I'm actually downsizing. And I already have 4.10s

To confirm what the others said, the horsepower ratings are rated based on our internal engine dyno testing. Looking forward to your results!

I was more getting at the fact that shitty pacesetter headers and a poor 3" y pipe/catback will choke 40hp off of this setup's potential.

TFS heads are really good, and that cam seems sized correctly. If the tune is right i wouldnt worry about it much.

Exhaust is long tube headers( not sure what brand came with car) and 3" y with flowmaster mini cats, has a hooker cat back that may rob some hp compared to others but certainly not 40hp

Right I agree it's not robbing that much regardless of the brand but some ORY pipes have crappy merges and old header designs are not optimal as well. Both of which will most definitely cost a decent amount of power
