Stock engine hot oil pressure ?
ok guys I just want some opinions and to know if this is the norm . I have a stock lq4 with 127k on the clock , it's in my 1970 chevelle . I have a mechanical gauge hooked up behind the intake . Cold ( 88 degrees ) oil pressure is around 42-45 at 1100 rpm once the engine gets to operating temp in around 18-22 with 10w40oil and a gm filter . Is this normal pressure for a stock higher mileage engine ?

Any reason you are using a heavier 40w over the recommended 5w30?
127,000 miles is still considered low mileage, especially for that engine.
I would switch back to a 30w and check again
20-40 psi hot idle is good
at rpm (2000-6000) 40-60 psi is good
I would only be concerned if it maintained less than 15 psi at hot idle
Stock Gen4 AFM/DOD 5.3 engines hot idle at 22 psi when new.

My oil filter wasn't working correct .. I junked the 3 dollar delco and put on a k&n and now 50 cold and 35 when oil is 215 degrees.. however I cut that filter open and found some small metal particles in the fiber and the oil in the bottom of the filter had a slight shimmer to it but . There's no sign of metal on the dipstick or the magnetic drain plug or the oil coming out of the pan. I did install a new cam, springs, pushrods, and lifters though and I've read where similar things happend like that to other people. It's not affecting hot pressure though and it rises with rpm

A light glittery shimmer to the oil after a Cam/Springs/Pushrods is normal, usually for the first 1,000 miles. I recommend to have the oil changed 3 times in that period, 1st time after initial startup and heat cycles, 2nd at 500 miles, and 3rd at 1k miles. Just what I recommend when I do it when I install cams in customer vehicles. Might be a bit over the top.
