Default Ai 243 cnc porting vs. tsp stg. 1 243

I have a pair of 243 heads that I am going to get ported one day. I have a 02 ws6 ta auto car. It will have all the bolt ons, plus a tsp 223 226 600 lift 114 lsa cam and a circle d 278mm 3200 stall. I am looking at advanced induction 226 cnc porting and texas speed stg.1 226 cnc 243 porting also. The ai porting is $1195 and the tsp is $750. My question is which one of these is the best to go with for performance. Is the ai porting worth the extra money than the tsp porting? I have read good things about both on here.

By the way these are using the stock valves on both heads.

Funny you mention this since I have 2 friends that run those both exact heads. Both are auto WS6's as well. They both run well, but those AI 226's are probably a tad better

My opinion is go with the AI 226 program. I currently have AI 226cc 243's and have been super happy with them. Great value and excellent power gains. Phil is also a great guy and very helpful when i had any questions. Even non cylinder head questions lol. He can also choose a cam for optimal performance (not a bad idea seeing they would know their heads best). As far as a decision, I would do more homework and maybe call a few vendors to get a vibe. I always like idea of complete spec'd packages and try see things as a whole. Good luck.

I ran the AI setup for about 5 years. I was happy with them.

TSP/PRC Stage 1 799s are on the SBE LS1 in our wagon. Originally I was going to run SDPC CNC'd "LS6" heads but due to their inability to deliver a quality product we were forced to move on. My point is that for the average guy any entry level CNC'd head is going to work leaps and bounds better than stock 241s. That is to say only if the cam, supporting mods (intake, exhaust, fuel), and tune are properly suited. Otherwise a well tuned/optimized stock LS1 is going to eat your lunch. The extra few CFM the AI heads potentially provide may never be actualized.

So many people fail to understand this and hoist it aboard.

Whatever route you go make certain to examine the heads carefully for flashing and trash - and clean them up accordingly.

I have the TSP Stage 1 243's and even with the stock cam, these things start pulling hard at 2000 rpm with a 6 speed.

If you go with TSP, ask them to polish the chambers. You won't get this with a regular port job from them.

TSP Stage 2.5 is like $200 more than the TSP stage 1.
I would look at comparing the TSP stage 2.5 to the AI.

I'd also call TSP and contact AI to see what they say...

However, my pet choice for 243's is TEA.
