For something as critical as a cam, I wouldn't go either one. Comp has **** the bed too many times around here. Anymore you want a cam ground by TSP, Cam Motion, or whoever has the same quality.

I'd love to somehow know how many folks broke in their Comp Cams with High zinc break-in oil (As recommended... ) and without a break in oil and which ones failed..

hey that might be great advice. I need cam + springs < $500 use stock pushrods .550 to .525 at the valve, 228* @ .050 and 230* split 112 is fine, slowest stockest ramp possible, they have a software that contains lobe profile I just never messed with it. Then try to find a spring slightly less seat pressure than PAC1218 I believe an OEM variant exists of this nature. I only need 6k fuel cut and it has to lope. Otherwise, w is the point of the V8

That is part-for-part the most common low budget cookie cutter build that's being done right now. Nothing special, been done probably a thousand times.

Good to know. Not looking for or trying to be special. Just looking for effective and cost efficient.

Running this cam for my 4.8 -7875 build. Haven't fired motor, cam was in spec with degree wheel for what that is worth. I don't believe jegd make a mild version of this. Next best thing might be a z06 cam in terms of value.

The Sloppy Stage 2 is pretty good. You may want to look at our new Pro LS Turbo Stage 2 cam p/n SUM-8706. 226/230 113 + 4 and .600/.575 lift and 100% Made in the USA. The valve timing events are a bit more dedicated for boost. Lobe designs are very nice and we gave it a touch more lift to match up with the .600 spring packs out there-so it will run better N/A as well.

We also produce in large quantities, so the Pro LS cams are competitive on price. We step things up in several other ways because of this. They're milled to near net before heat treat and finish ground on a Landis 3LB with a CBN (diamond) grinding wheel. This means you don't get soft spots that flake over time as a lot of custom cams are prone to do.. It also results in a better lobe finish than others because little in the actual way of polishing is required.

CBN is not diamond. It’s more than sufficient for grinding any steel - it’s actually hard enough to grind tungsten carbide - but it's not diamond, it's boron nitride.

Good Morning! Excellent video. Sounds good too. Between that and coffee, today is starting off nicely!

SS2 is proven and good on the budget... I got mine for 179.00 off ebay and just have it on the shelf. This new summit stage 2 turbo cam looks viable too with the summit 10% and 20% off sales.

Looks like the summit one def needs a dual spring?

A single is fine, but looking at the rpm this thing is turning...even with a fairly small cam. The single springs are nice due to their weight and it's mostly a matter of people shimming the single where it needs to be. Sometimes people just throw them in because they don't have the tools to measure installed height, spring checkers, etc. The duals are a preventative measure and will let it sing.

Judson Massengill once quipped, and I'll paraphrase- "Just because it wants to turn 8000 doesn't mean you have to pull the lever there".
