Default 1999 ss camaro oil consumpton

My son has a 1999 SS Camaro ls1 with 194,000 miles on it. About a year ago the heads and valves were done and cylinder walls looked good. In the last 2 months it has started going through about a quart of oil every 2 weeks which is about 200-300 miles?? Can not find out where it is going as only small spots under car and it does not smoke when idling but if you rev it up then you will get some smoke but not bad as I followed him the other day and taking off from stop light you could see a little smoke but nothing bad? The only thing we have done lately is gutted out the cats as they were both bad? I have been using 15-50 mobile one in it since 2001 when it had 32,000 miles with no problems?? A friend said it could be too thick of oil but I live in Phoenix AZ so it does not get that cold and online I could not find any responses? I have cleaned out the k&n filter and re-oiled it and for now it has a paper filter in it. So was told it was probably sucking the oil into the intake. Changed out the pcv valve and my son pulled one plug when he was at his moms house and it had oil on it? Just started doing this about 3 months ago as it was fine before that but then a 17 year old is driving it now!!! Thanks

were the heads ported? most port jobs cut into the intake ports real good, and expose the rocker threads inside the heads. u have to use a sealer on those bolts or else u will suck up oil.

In a high milage scenario like yours, when you seal up the valves it can cause the old rings to start to leak. do a compression/leakdown test on it.
